Diagnostic Clarity
Sometimes understanding what is happening begins with taking another look at what it has been called.
A diagnosis can bring relief, validation, and a path toward effective treatment. But diagnoses can also accumulate over time. Some remain helpful; others may be incomplete, outdated, or no longer explain the whole picture.
Diagnostic clarity isn’t about finding the perfect label. It’s about developing the most accurate and useful understanding we can—and using that understanding to guide what comes next.
My Approach
We’ll look carefully at your psychiatric and medical history, current symptoms, previous diagnoses and treatments, relationships, life experiences, strengths, and patterns over time.
I use established psychiatric diagnostic frameworks while taking a dimensional, whole-person approach. That means considering not only whether symptoms meet criteria for a particular diagnosis, but also how factors such as trauma, personality, neurodevelopment, physical health, medications, sleep, substances, relationships, and life circumstances may be contributing to what you’re experiencing.
Just as importantly, I want to understand your understanding of your experience—what previous explanations have gotten right, what they may have missed, and what questions remain unanswered.
Sometimes this process confirms a previous diagnosis. Sometimes it suggests a different or more nuanced understanding. And sometimes the most useful conclusion is that a person’s experience cannot be fully captured by a single diagnostic label.

What to expect
Diagnostic clarity begins with your Initial Psychiatric Evaluation, where we take time to understand your history, current concerns, previous treatment, and what you hope to understand or change.
We then meet for Your Personalized Care Plan. I’ll share my assessment and how I arrived at it, including areas where there may still be uncertainty. We’ll discuss your questions, consider treatment options, and decide together what makes sense as a next step.
The goal is not simply to give you a diagnosis. It is to give us a clearer map for moving forward.
